Terms of service

These terms cover your use of DUE (also shown as BriefToPaid). They are written in plain English and are governed by Australian law. By creating an account you agree to them. Last updated 20 September 2026.

Who we are and how to reach us

DUE is operated from New South Wales, Australia. For anything about these terms, your account, billing or your data, write to hello@brieftopaid.app.

Your account

You need an account to use DUE. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, for keeping your sign-in details secure, and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it. One account is for one person or business — don't share logins.

What DUE does

DUE helps creators and independent professionals keep client briefs, jobs, deliverables, invoices and payment status in one place. It can prepare invoice PDFs, remind you about work and payments, and help you match payments to jobs. DUE is a record-keeping and invoicing tool. It is not an accountant, bookkeeper, tax agent, lawyer or debt collector, and nothing it produces is professional advice.

AI-assisted extraction always needs your review

DUE uses AI to read briefs, quotes, contracts and payment advice and to propose deliverables, dates, amounts and payment terms. These are proposals. They can be wrong, incomplete or ambiguous. Nothing becomes a job, an invoice or an outgoing message until you review and confirm it. You are responsible for checking anything you send to a client or rely on for money or tax.

Your DUE brand-work email address

DUE reserves one address at collabs.brieftopaid.app for your brand work. Sending and receiving through the reserved address are not live yet, so it is not currently a capture or sending route. You may connect Microsoft Outlook (optional, disconnect any time), paste or upload briefs, or add a Collab manually. What is stored and how to remove it is described on the privacy page.

Your records and your content

Briefs, jobs, documents, invoices, bank CSV imports and client details you add remain yours. You keep all intellectual property in them. You give DUE only the permission needed to store, process and display that material so the service can work for you. You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload.

DUE's own software, branding, design and documentation remain ours. You may use the service, not copy or resell it.

We process your material to provide DUE. We do not publish client material, identifiable feedback, testimonials or screenshots without your separate, explicit permission. Content-free product milestones help us improve DUE, as described in Privacy.

Acceptable use

Don't use DUE to break the law, to send anything misleading or harassing, to store material you have no right to hold, to attempt to reach another user's data, to probe or overload the service, or to resell access. Automated bulk use, scraping or reverse engineering isn't permitted.

What DUE costs

Free during early access; we will give notice before any future paid plans. No automatic charges. During early access there is no time limit, no collab limit and no card requirement. Early access is not a promise that DUE will be free forever. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you in advance, and no paid plan will start unless you choose it yourself. You can export or delete your records at any time.

Payments, renewals and cancellation

Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe-hosted pages. DUE never sees or stores your card number. Your purchase is also subject to Stripe's own terms.

No payments are taken during early access. If you bought access before early access began, your record is kept and any plan you started can still be cancelled from Settings through the Stripe billing portal.

Refunds and your Australian Consumer Law rights

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For a major failure you are entitled to a refund or replacement and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage; for a failure that is not major you are entitled to have the problem fixed within a reasonable time, and if that is not done, to a refund.

Beyond those rights, payments for time already made available are generally not refundable. If something has gone wrong, email hello@brieftopaid.app and we will work it out with you in good faith.

Fair use and availability

DUE is early-stage software provided on a reasonable-endeavours basis. There is no uptime guarantee, and maintenance, provider outages or errors can interrupt it. Reasonable fair-use limits apply to AI processing, email sending and receiving, uploads and storage so one account cannot exhaust shared resources; where a limit applies we will tell you in the app. We may change or remove features as the product develops. Keep your own copies of anything you would be unhappy to lose. Export tools are available while you have product access; contact us if you need an export while access is paused.

Suspension and ending your account

You can stop using DUE and delete your data at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, is used unlawfully, or puts the service or other users at risk — and, where it is reasonable to do so, we will contact you first. If we close your account without cause we will refund any unused paid period.

Disclaimers and liability

Except for rights that cannot be excluded (including under the Australian Consumer Law), DUE is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that extraction will be accurate, that reminders will always arrive, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid DUE in the 12 months before the claim — or, where the law requires, to resupplying the service.

Privacy

How we handle your information, including email sent to and from your DUE address and first-party aggregate analytics, is set out on the privacy page, which forms part of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. Where a change materially affects you we will give reasonable notice in the app or by email before it applies. Continuing to use DUE after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don't accept them, you can cancel and delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia.
